THE RIVER RUNS DEEP

The River Runs Deep - A Mini-Campaign
2002
Designed for four, 4th level PC's. Can be scaled from 2nd through 6th level.
Rendall Porinn:
Rendall is an imposing physical presence. His stature is stout and short. There have been some who (quietly) question his human heritage, wondering if instead he is a mix of elvish and dwarvish stock. Rendall is not a particularly handsome man, and bears a scar that runs from his forehead across his right eye and down to his right cheek. The scar is an unwanted momento from one of his earliest jobs – he bit off more than he could chew and was forced to engage his mark in a straight-up swordfight. He lost his eye in that encounter and had it magically regenerated. Rendall usually dresses in a hooded brown cloak with the hood pulled up around his cheeks like a collar. He has short salt-and-pepper hair and his visage, though somewhat misshapen and ugly, betrays his elven heritage in that his skin is perfectly clear. His eyes, a piercing green, are also testament to his elven heritage. He also carries an enormous dwarven waraxe, Splitstone. See me and other NPC's in The River Runs Deep!

Campaign Capsule:
An adventure spanning locations from the mundane to the exotic in which the tools discovered are important, but the real treasure comes in knowing how to use them, *who* to use them on, and most importantly, why they must be used.

A mysterious group calling themselves the River Walkers has emerged in a town along a river. More than smugglers and with a greater agenda than mere profit, the River Walkers are an organization whose methods seem to belie a definite but unknown purpose. Vechir, the head of the local thieves' guild is worried; he knows from whence the River Walkers came and knows he is not safe. Determined to cause their downfall, he tries to contact a small group of adventurers to give them the information they will need to fight this group. His meeting with these adventurers is quite eventful - he shares with them some of his knowledge, but before he can finish, he is assassinated! The adventurers now have enough information to get them into trouble - and on the River Walkers' bad side - but they do not yet realize the scope of the River Walkers' operation. Their search for answers and for the means to battle this organization will take them from the most mundane of city streets to the most exotic locales in the land - and even to some locales not of this world! In the end, finding the truth may be even more shocking as they try to discover the real power behind the River Walkers - and what it wants...
